Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Boss Steve Evans believes new signing Paul Green’s all-action style will perfectly match the Rotherham United ethos.

Evans, who holds hard work and application high on his Rotherham United manifesto, moved for the Republic of Ireland international after his departure from Championship rivals Leeds United.

Green signed a two-year deal with the Millers to become Evans’ 11th close season capture, with the Millers Chief stressing not only does the ex-Derby man possess the work ethic he craves, but he can also be a creative influence in the Millers engine room.

“He’s an energetic lad, a box-to-box type of player,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“He is also creative and not afraid to put himself about, so he can do both sides of the midfield job.

“Technically he is very good as well and he has great industry and work ethic which is what we are always looking for.”

Green started his professional career with Doncaster Rovers and was an integral cog in their midfield helping the South Yorkshire club rise from the Conference into the Championship.

The 31-year-old has also enjoyed spells in the second tier with Derby County and Leeds United before finishing last season on loan at Ipswich Town.

“Of course he has great experience as well, whilst his versatility of playing across the midfield will also be invaluable to us,” added Evans.

“We like to have players who can operate in more than one position; we have that with a number of individuals in our squad, and Paul for me is a big part of what we are trying to do going forward as we continue to finalise our squad for next season.”
