Paul Green talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

New signing Paul Green says he signed for Rotherham United because of the all round ambition of the club.

Green became Steve Evans’ 11th summer signing yesterday after he penned a two-year deal with the club.

The former Doncaster Rovers, Derby County and Leeds United midfielder admitted he is excited about the move, citing the club’s ambition as a huge factor in his decision to switch to New York Stadium.

“The club is ambitious and I wanted to be part of that,” Green told Millers Player.

“It is exciting times here with the stadium and promotions, there seems to be a real buzz around the place. I think if we can take that into next season then I think we can surprise a few teams.

“I met the Gaffer last week and everything he said about the club was really exciting. I am delighted to be here and I think we can do well in The Championship.”

After finishing last season on loan at Ipswich Town, Green also admitted the lure of moving closer to his home was also a factor.

“I am a big family man and it will be nice to get my family settled back in Pontefract so that was important to me,” added Green.

“It is an honour to sign for Rotherham United; it is a club that is moving forward with big ambitions and after speaking with the Gaffer and his plans for the future it clearly is a great time to become involved.

“The manager doesn’t want Rotherham United to be fighting to stay up, he wants us to be pushing on and that was a big thing for me. You want to finish as high as you possibly can, and with the players who we have signed, coupled with the group of players already here we have a great chance.

“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think this club could go far. They way the team play, pressing high up the pitch, playing with energy, that is what I am all about.”
