Striker stays at New York...

Rotherham United have extended the loan of Queen Park Rangers striker Tom Hitchcock until the end of the season.

Hitchcock signed on an initial one month loan and made an immediate impression when he came off the bench in the 4-2 victory over his former club Crewe Alexandra.
He then scored on his full debut in the 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town.

His form has impressed boss Steve Evans who today made the move to extend the 21-year-old’s loan until the end of the season.

“I am delighted to be staying until the end of the season,” Hitchcock told www.themillers.co.uk

“I just want to play games and score goals and hopefully I can help the team to promotion.

“I’ve loved my time here so far, it has been a great experience for me. The lads have been great and I’ve settled in well, so I am just delighted to be staying.”

Hitchcock found himself out of the starting 11 for the recent game against Tranmere Rovers but revealed he is working hard towards reclaiming his place in the Millers attack.

“I missed out in the last game so my aim now is to work hard in training and try and get back into the starting line-up,” he added.

“I would love to score more goals for the team; we do create chances here so I need to make sure I’m on the end of them.

“There is a great competition for places here at the moment which is keeping everyone on their toes, and means there is a real intensity to do well in training which can only be good for the club.”
