On Thursday 19th December Rotherham United Community Sports Trust’s Social Prescription groups came together for a Christmas party.

All 35 participants that attended the party enjoyed a Christmas dinner followed by singing and dancing entertainment. Also during the party, the participants had a surprise visit from 6 Rotherham United first team players; Alex Revell, Michael O’Connor, Kari Arnason, Ben Pringle, Mark Bradley and Rob Milsom.

Ryan Canadine, Lead Coach, said “It was a fantastic day, I think it was a really good time to have the Christmas party as it was the last session before the participants start their new community sessions during January.

“All the participants thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the entertainment as they all joined in and sang along with the songs and Christmas carols. It was also really nice to be able to bring the 3 groups together at one time so they could have a good catch up with each other.”

Jamie Noble, Head of Community commented “I would like to thank the staff at the Trust for organising the Christmas party and making it such a great day for all involved. Also a huge thanks to the players for coming down in their free time to not only speak to the participants, but get involved with the entertainment.

“Finally I would like to thank Voluntary Action Rotherham for their continuous support throughout the year and thank you to the advisors for coming down on the day and talking to the participants.”

At the end of the Christmas party all the participants were given a signed team photo of Rotherham United as well as their completed photo albums which they had made themselves over several previous Social Prescription sessions.
