End of season stay for Toon pair...

Rotherham United have extended the loan of Newcastle United duo James Tavernier and Haris Vuckic until the end of the season.

The pair, who have played a key role in helping the Millers cement a top six position in League One during their time here have penned extensions that will see them remain at New York Staduim until the campaign comes to an end.

“It’s fair to say that both lads have helped raise the standard in training and in games, and I believe there’s still much more to come from both of them,” Steve Evans exclusively told www.themillers.co.uk.  “James has really hit the ground running and he’s been a key component in the recent good results we’ve had, and Haris is very quickly acclimatising to a level where it’s about finding space and where we need to find him with the ball to allow him to unleash the outstanding natural talent that he possesses which makes him a Premier League player.”

As well as the co-operation of Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, Evans believes the opinions of the players was important in ensuring that the duo stayed in South Yorkshire.

“We do it and you’d expect Newcastle United do it too, and that is ask the opinion of the players individually, as it has been made clear to Newcastle how much they’re enjoying it, how much they feel part of it and that they want to play a part until the end of the season.”
