Rotherham United Community Sports Trust have recently been promoting the benefits of cycling along with partners RMBC, DR Bike and Stonham Home Group. Fans are encouraged to GET ON YOUR BIKE and bring your bike along to Dr Bike at the New York Stadium to get a free check up and repair. The Dr Bike team will be at the New York Stadium from 1pm-5:30pm at the Rotherham United home game v Crewe Alexandra on 11th January 2014.

The group is ran by a group of dedicated volunteers and are launching a safe and secure bike park scheme so your bikes will be looked after during the match and can be picked up on your way home. The pilot scheme will be taking place for a number of home games over the next 2 months and hopefully beyond.

Jamie Noble, Head of Community said “it’s a fantastic idea, not only is it good for the environment and save on car parking, it will most importantly give the fans who participate a healthier life style. The football club is committed to making the Rotherham public more physically active and healthier whilst at the same time trying to make match experiences the best they can be for all fans. We have had a bike park since the stadium opened which our fans may not be aware of due to its positioning, Dr Bike is a great initiative to expose this area and encourage our keen cyclists to cycle to game to beat the traffic.”
