Steve Evans praises Newcastle boss...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has thanked Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew for his help in extending the loan deals of James Tavernier and Haris Vuckic.

The pair today committed to the Millers until the end of the season, after two short-term loan deals had come to an end. However, with interest from elsewhere in the duo, Evans is grateful for the decision made by the Toon Army to allow them a return to New York Stadium.

“I’m delighted to have them both here, and once again I have to extend my thanks to Alan Pardew, the first team manager up at Newcastle United for his help in allowing us to extend the loans of James and Haris.

“There has been interest to Newcastle United for both players from clubs in League One and in the Championship, but Newcastle said if they were happy with the progress and the development of both players by the time this decision needed to be made, then they would look on Rotherham United as the preferred option and once again Alan Pardew has been true to his word.”

Tavernier and Vuckic have been key during their time with the Millers, contributing three goals between them and several assists.
