The Children in Need Teenage Kicks project is now heading into its second year.

The first year was highly successful delivering in 5 areas within Rotherham which were Herringthorpe, Masbrough & Ferham, Canklow, Eastwood and Maltby.

The project covered a range of health topics including healthy eating, smoking, alcohol awareness, and substance abuse awareness, alongside a physical activity session. The sessions also taught teenagers an important skill in emergency first aid through the HEARTSTART course.

The project reached over 350 children over the first year with aims to reach more within the second year. Having received success in the areas the first year the second year is looking at building on this and is looking at moving the project into further areas as well as the 5 stated by the project, so delivery has been planned to add Wath and Dalton into the programme along with the 5 area’s targeted in Year 1.

A celebration of Year 1 and launch of year 2 event will be happening on February 11th at 4.30-6pm at the New York Stadium.

Emma Harrison, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator said “I am looking forward to the event as a celebration of Year 1 of Children in Need as well as launching the second year, outlining the work we will be doing with key partners.”
