Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Manager Steve Evans hailed new loan signing Blair Turgott as a player that ‘will excite the fans’ after signing the West Ham youngster on loan this morning.

The 19-year-old trained with the Millers today ahead of the weekend game at Shrewsbury Town, joining fellow new boy Wes Thomas who signed for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday.

Turgott, who has represented England at under 16, 17, 18 and 19 level, may not be a familiar face to Millers supporters, but Evans revealed that he has all the attributes to become a fans’ favourite.

“Our fans will like him that is for sure,” added Evans.

“He is a winger, he’s quick, he is skilful and we have handpicked this lad because we think he’ll make a real impact starting games and coming off the bench, he is a player who will excite the fans. He will like to get one-on-one with the full back and use his pace and strength, the full-back will need a ticket a times to get back to him.”

A former Colchester United and Bradford City loanee, Turgott has been on the radar for some time, with Evans re-affirming his desire to sign young players eager to prove themselves.

“We feel that he brings something to this squad that we needed, and this is a further endorsement that we are not looking at players who are 33 or 34 who are looking for one last swansong,” added Evans.

“We are looking to sign young, hungry and talented individuals who have a bright future in the game and who have points to prove, and here is another example of that.”

There will be a full interview with Blair Turgott on Millers Player shortly…
