Striker forced off to allow Wes Thomas debut...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans confirmed after yesterday’s game that Alex Revell’s half-time substitution was the result of a groin strain, after being withdrawn for new signing Wes Thomas.

Thomas made his home debut for the club, replacing Revell at half-time and going close in the second period as the Millers chased the game.

“Alex Revell came off because he had got a calf strain,” Evans said after the game. “We just felt then we needed to get behind them with a bit of pace; Wes Thomas gives you that bit of channelled aggression and I thought when he came on today he was excellent. He was unlucky with a header off the line and could have maybe had a penalty but we’re looking forward to getting him in and working with him. Young Tom will have other days where more just comes off for him but we brought Haris on and I thought he did well.”

Lee Frecklington was missing with a hamstring, but Evans is expecting him to be back for Tuesday’s game at Tranmere Rovers, whilst Revell, Hitchcock, Vuckic and Thomas will be competing for the forward positions when the Millers face Ronnie Moore’s men at Prenton Park.
