New signing drawn by Gaffer...

Rotherham United’s latest acquisition Miles Addison said he was drawn to the club by manager Steve Evans.

Evans landed the imposing defender earlier this week and the former Derby County man was quick to praise his new boss, who could hand him a debut in the Sky Bet League 1 encounter against Crewe Alexandra this weekend.

“One of the reasons for signing was the manager’s success,” Addison told Millers Player. “He’s been successful throughout his career and I just want to be around successful people because it’s only going to benefit me. He seems really straight forward, and as a footballer that’s all you want, honesty. I’ve seen how he is in interviews and there’s just something that drew me towards him, and I can see it’s going to be a successful four or five months while Steve Evans is here.”

Addison has settled quickly around his new teammates, with former Derby County comrade Ben Pringle being tasked with helping him fit into his new surroundings.

“Once I knew of the interest, I knew a couple of people down here and it’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. It’s a tight-knit bunch of players with some talented footballers in there and the league table doesn’t lie. We’re in a play-off position and I’m hopeful I can come in and improve the team in some way,” Addison added.

This will be the loan signing’s second foray into the third tier, with his only previous spell resulting in promotion with Bournemouth last season, although he hasn’t featured as much as he’d have liked upon his return to the Championship.

“If you look at my career I’ve had some bad injuries, long ones as well but if you look back, whenever I’ve been fit I’ve been playing, whereas these last few months is the first time it hasn’t been the case. I’ve got a few months of the season left now and I just hope it can be a success while I’m at Rotherham.”
