Gaffer hails first January capture...

Rotherham United have completed the loan signing of Bournemouth’s Miles Addison until the end of the season.

The move is Steve Evans’ first foray into the market this January, with the former Derby County man linking up with the Millers until the end of the current campaign.

“Miles is a young man we tried to sign back in the summer,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk. “Bournemouth rejected it at that time and I’ve monitored his progress, having watched him in a number of reserve games where he’s done well but not been able to break in there. If you look at the two central defenders that are used by Eddie Howe they’re big players. Miles is a young man we first came across at Derby County when he broke into the side around the same time as Ben Pringle. He can play centre-back, centre-mid and it was only two years ago that this young man was tipped to make the very top of the game. Between now and the summer we need to refocus him and I’m pleased he’s the first name that’s joined us this window.”

A powerhouse who has played both in midfield and at the back, the Millers boss is confident that he will bolster his options with the desired quality.

“He’s a big powerful strong lad who will get his head on things. He’s very good technically and what we think we’ve done today by bringing him in is strengthening what we had.”

With several players departing on loan or extending loan spells at the end of last week, Evans has reassured supporters that Addison may not be the last new face seen in a red and white shirt this month.

“We feel we’re stronger than we were a few weeks ago and we’re looking to strengthen further now. It won’t be a case of hours though, we’ve got a long time left until the end of January.”
