Oakwood were crowned the first Rotherham United Interschool Futsal champions thanks to a Fazil Reza goal in the 1-0 win against Thrybergh.
The tournament was held at Wingfield School and also featured Wingfield, Aston and Clifton. Oakwood won all three league games and then Wingfield A in the semi-final whilst Thrybergh beat Wingfield B on penalties to set up a very close final.Oakwood also had Liam Johnson top the scoring charts with a very impressive 7 goals.
Over 50 Year 11 boys participated in the tournament and the quality of Futsal being played was of a high quality. Andy Warrington, Futsal Coordinator, has been delighted by the response shown by students to enrol on our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport which incorporates Futsal playing against other Football league clubs.
