Rotherham United's Academy gets a glowing report...
Rotherham United’s Academy has been officially awarded a Category Three status followed a recent audit of the entire Academy set-up.
Garreth Barker and his staff received a glowing report following a five-day assessment of the Millers Academy department, a process undertaken at every Football League club.
The results were very favourable to the Millers with Barker and Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas receiving the good news following a recent journey to London.
“As a result of the hard work we have been awarded official Category Three status which is what we set out to achieve for the club,” Barker told www.themillers.co.uk
“This now means we can continue to maintain our games programme plus our coaching and training programme for under 9s through to the under 16s. It was a very successful outcome off the back of some tremendous work from our full-time and part-time staff.
“From the report we received our overall management and organisation was a particular strength, whilst we were also commended on the quality of our facilities which the club have backed us heavily on.
“Myself and Paul were told that it was the most professionally delivered audit that they had been to which was a huge compliment to be paid to the staff not just in the Academy but also the Chief Executive, first-team manager and other people who were involved in the process.”
The Millers under 18s side are hopeful to be back in action this weekend after two postponed games, whilst a number of Academy players are involved in tonight’s reserve game at Hartlepool United.
