Gaffer pleased with new style...

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has been pleased with a new style of play that his side have implemented in recent weeks.

With the introduction of several new faces has come a more structured build-up style implemented by Evans’ men, and the Millers boss believes it’s imperative that his players grew into their status.

“We’re not going to change now,” Evans told Millers Player. “We implemented this a couple of weeks ago so it’s still very early but we felt we had to do something and we identified the players we wanted to bring in to help with the change. We got all we went for but they, along with the players already at the club have really embraced it, and it’s great. We’re a Championship club and it’s important that we evolve into playing like a Championship club.”

After a draw at home to Blackpool the previous week, the Millers impressed all in attendance on their first visit to the Cardiff City Stadium, and would have taken home all three points but for some fine work between the sticks from the Cardiff ‘keeper.

“We played well enough, got ourselves in some good positions, and the difference on the day was just David Marshall in goal for Cardiff who made two or three top class saves. As I said to the lads on Monday if we’d arrived there in sixth or seventh in the table, the home supporters would have been saying that these guys are going to be up there.”
