The consecutive success of The Millers Community Jobshop at Mowbray Gardens Library

In September, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust extended the Millers Community Jobshop, to deliver on an outreach basis at the Mowbray Gardens Library. The success of the 2 hour Drop-in sessions came quickly as many continue to attend. Russell Morgan, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust Adult Education Tutor continues to assist attendees in the constructing effective CVs, managing JCP’s Universal Job search Accounts and utilising emails for job seeking.

Since the establishment at Mowbray Gardens Library, the outcome of these sessions have led to, employment, training for employment into the security industry and free sign-ups for online computer course on UK-Online. We have also gone the extra mile by providing a learner with advice and close mentoring support on her IT course. This initiative led to a successful outcome for the individual as she secured a job interview and continue to progress throughout her IT training. The feedback has been superb with a learner stating, “It was just like being with family I felt that comfortable with the setup. I appreciate that Russell is very Understanding and helpful.”

Russell stated, “I would like to thank all involved, especially Pauline Thrower from Communitas, which is the Education arm of the Community Union for her support with the project. He added, “The whole concept of the Millers Jobshop is that people feel comfortable with throughout their job seeking and the environment. The Jobshop is for all and you don’t need to be unemployed to attend. If you are looking at a career change, we can help you with those decisions.”

The Millers Community Jobshop at Mowbray Gardens Library is held every Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00pm until further notice. If you are seeking extra support, the Jobshop is open every Wednesday 10am until 3pm at the New York Stadium.
