Millers midfielder agrees extended stay...

Rotherham United midfielder Lee Frecklington has put pen-to-paper on a contract extension that will see him remain at The AESSEAL New York Stadium until the summer of 2017.

Frecklington, who initially joined the Millers on loan two years ago when Steve Evans’ revolution was in its infancy, before making the switch permanent and helping the club to back-to-back promotions.

On signing the deal, Frecklington was delighted to get it over the line, and is looking forward to building on his 101 appearances for Steve Evans’ side.

“It’s a sign that things have gone well so far so to get the deal done to commit myself to another couple of years, hopefully a successful couple of years, I’m very pleased. It was a great way to star, scoring on my debut and getting this done early is very important because I can just concentrate purely on football and hopefully put in the performances on the pitch to make the supporters happy.”

The all-action midfielder has been key to some of the most memorable moments at The AESSEAL New York Stadium since his arrival, netting the winning goal in last season’s Capital One Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday, and slotting home the iconic injury time goal that sealed promotion to League One in 2013.

“You won’t get a better feeling than winning at Wembley last year. Of course the goal against Aldershot was a big thing and a great day for me personally, but overall I don’t think you can ever beat winning at Wembley.”
