Steve Evans post Brentford...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was left disappointed to suffer defeat despite missing a host of chances. The Millers twice hit the woodwork, whilst Matt Derbyshire on his first competitive start at New York Stadium twice couldn’t convert from good areas.

“We’ve dominated for long periods,” Evans said after the game. “We hit the woodwork, we’ve had it off the line, had a succession of chances and they breakaway a minute before half-time and then again deep into stoppage time when we’ve got everyone committed forward, so we don’t really count that.

“We’ve played well from our last two home games, we feel we should have six points, but we’ve got nothing from it and we just can’t be missing the chances that we have done. Brentford have come and nicked a win although our performance was super; it was magnificent and we dominated from start to finish but you can’t miss them chances and win a football match.”

The Millers created a number of chances through Man of the Match Paul Taylor and Manager Steve Evans is pleased with how his side adapted to the division albeit despite today’s defeat.

“There’s things we’ve worked at on the training ground. I’m looking at the forward area, the chances we’ve created and the passages of play and we said it before but if this is the standard then we’re happy with how we’ve competed and we’ll do alright. It’s hard to take tonight but we go back on the training ground on Monday and start again.”
