Still open for applications!

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust Education Academy still has a number of places available for their educational courses for 16-18 year olds. With Results day upon us there is still time to include the Education Academy courses for your future. 

There are a number of Further Education options available from Level 1 to a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching & Development.

Introduction to Sport & Coaching

Kick off your career in sport by joining our introductory program to Sport and Sports Coaching.  Over an academic year you will gain a variety of sports qualifications and study a number of units that will help you develop your skills as a sport coach. This will include gaining a level 1 Sports Leaders Award, Healthy Lifestyles, Enterprise Activities, Employability and Money Management Skills along with Exercise Studies and Personal Development. All the courses and programs are supported by our partnerships with local Colleges and training providers.

The course will be delivered at:
•    New York Stadium
•    Three days a week (days tbc)
•    9.30am – 4pm

Throughout your study time we will balance your studies with the chance to develop your coaching and leadership skills within our community programs in assisting our lead coaches. There will also be the opportunity to play in the Rotherham Indoor Football Centre’s 5 a side league.

Futsal Scholarship

The Futsal Scholarship offers the chance for learners to mix their academic studies with their practical passions. Over a two year period you will gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A levels) and represent Rotherham United in a both Regional league and National Tournaments against other Football League Clubs. The Futsal Scholarship BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport is an exciting course that is specifically designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the sports industry. The course is delivered using an online platform which can be accessed by students away from classroom.

The scholarship is also in partnership with Rotherham United Ladies Football Club in successfully setting up the Female Development Squad. This is where any females who are wanting to join the scholarship will be able to train and learn with the male members but due to league restrictions will be offered the chance to train and play for the development squad.

The course will be delivered;
•    New York Stadium and Rotherham Indoor Football Centre
•    Monday – Friday
•    9.30am – 4pm

The Futsal scholarship enables learners to progress from the scholarship onto our brand new and exciting Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development in partnership with the Football League and South Wales University.
