NCS Social Action – Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

28 August 2014

Sponsored by

After a 2 week residential, group 2 from cohort 2 of the summer NCS planned their Social Action project to fundraise for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary.

Thornberry offers a refuge to abandoned, unwanted, abused and neglected animals. They operate a no kill policy and no healthy animal is ever destroyed. For 25 years Thornberry have given hope to those abandoned or mistreated and they rely entirely on donations, fundraising and legacies.

Friday 22nd August saw the group bag packing at Asda where they raised over £100! Miller bear was also present on the day to interact with the shoppers!

Ryan Canadine, group 2 Team Leader said “It was a great chance to get Miller bear out into the community and raise vital funds for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. If you have any unwanted animal food that you would like to donate to Thornberry then please get in touch with the Trust.”

To continue with the fundraising, the group are going to be holding a stall in the outside market at Rotherham Town Centre on Friday 29th August. There will be cakes, face painting and a raffle as well as another chance for the people of Rotherham to meet Miller bear. We hope to see you all there!
