Gaffer had his line-up ready a week...

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says he’s known his starting line-up for over a week ahead of the Millers’ return to the Championship.

Evans’ side take on Derby County at the iPro Stadium tomorrow, and the Millers chief admits there has been over a month’s preparation going into the game.

“I know the starting line-up, I’ve known it about a week,” Evans exclusively told Millers Player. “We did a little bit of functional work this morning, but our real work started five weeks ago in preparation for tomorrow. We know how tough it’s going to be, it’s as tough as any promoted team could have, but we’re looking forward to it.”

Evans has close to a full squad to chose from, but the game will come just too soon for defender Frazer Richardson and midfielder Rob Milsom, whilst Febian Brandy is fit but is lacking in game time.

“Frazer’s close but not close enough, he needs a game or two under his belt and he’s probably another week or away, or two at the most. It’s a shame as he was stunning in Scotland and he’d just got that rustiness out of his legs. He (Rob Milsom) is close, he’s just got a little swelling around the ankle joint and at a push this Saturday we could play him but we’re not in a position to push players at this stage of the season.”

“Febian Brandy is now fit but hasn’t played any football barring 45 minutes at Stocksbridge so he needs a week’s training and a behind closed doors game or two before he’s ready. He’s a player we’re excited by because at the start of pre-season he was excellent.”
