Rotherham Hospice to receive funds from 20/20 game...

A charity cricket match will be held in memory of former Rotherham United club doctor Subhankar Chatterjee on Sunday 14 September.

The match will take place at 1pm at Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club with all proceeds going to Rotherham Hospice. The game will be a Twenty20 type format and will be between a Rotherham Doctors XI and Whiston Village XI.

Subhankar, commonly known as Hank, worked as club doctor for Rotherham United for 20 years from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s. He sadly passed away in December last year at the age of 80.

Former England cricket John Hampshire who was a very close friend of Hank’s will be presenting the trophy to the winning team. Hank was a big Rotherham United fan and also enjoyed exploring and loved going to the theatre. Previously he had worked as a general practitioner.
