Michael Pigott becomes the first Rotherham United season ticket holder to renew...

Michael Pigott was first in line at New York Stadium today, renewing his season ticket and taking advantage of the early price freeze for the 2014/15 season.

With fans queuing at the Red & White Shop for the 9am opening, Mr. Pigott was first in line to ensure his seat in the Eric Twigg Foods and Pukka Pies West Stand for next season, renewing for the same price regardless of what division the Millers are in, as Steve Evans’ men push for a second successive promotion.

“It’s been fantastic, and this stadium is out of this world,” Michael told www.themillers.co.uk. “Mr. Stewart has done a fantastic job. I went to Don Valley but nothing compares with this. I sit in the West Stand and the standout memory has to be the promotion last year, it was a brilliant day, especially after all the troubles we’ve been through. I never thought I’d see Rotherham play in a stadium like this; it is a pleasure to come and watch them every week. We’re playing well and I fancy the play-offs at least and I won’t be giving up hope of automatic promotion.”

As a supporter he’s seen many ups and downs of watching the Millers, after a unique way of being introduced to the club back in 1957, when Millmoor was graced with the likes of Peter Madden, Barry Webster and Lol Morgan, who would all go on to represent the club in the first ever League Cup final.

“I’ve been supporting Rotherham for 57 years. I started watching them when I was 15 because I was an apprentice joiner, and the joiner I worked for was an avid fan and said if I didn’t go to Millmoor to watch Rotherham then he wouldn’t teach me anything!”
