Leading scorer in Golden Boot race...
Kieran Agard recently picked up the Top Scorer award at the Sheffield Star and Green ‘Un awards, as his season continues to go from strength to strength.
The 24 year-old who has raced clear in the goalscoring stakes at New York Stadium this season despite spending the majority of the season on the wing, sits just three league goals behind Sam Baldock at present in the race for the divisional title, and whilst it would take a special performance on Saturday, the former Everton man has more than the Golden Boot on his agenda.
“My Mum recently mentioned to me that I could get the top scorer in the league but I honestly didn’t know it was that close,” he enthused. “That would be a nice bonus but my main aim is to keep myself in good form and ready for the play-offs. It would be fantastic if we could end the season with a promotion.”
“It has been a fantastic season and it isn’t over yet. I was always confident that I could score goals but to get so many has been beyond my initial expectations for this season.”
The striker, who has 31 goals in 63 starts in all competitions for the Millers in his two year spell also notched a ‘perfect’ hat-trick in the 10 goal thriller at Molineux, and his four goals against the League One champions this year contribute to almost 13% of their entire goals conceded in the campaign.
““That was my first professional hat-trick so that was a nice personal milestone to achieve. I didn’t realise it at the time but that was a hat-trick with both my left, right and head, I was told afterwards that it was a perfect hat-trick.”
