Healthy Hearts Sessions

Rotherham United are still working in partnership with Heart Research UK and the number of participants in the session are growing.

At the moment with the help of Emma Harrison, our health co-ordinator, the participants are learning how to live healthy lifestyles, learning about the eat well plate, salts and sugars in food and how many calories are in different foods which has taken participants by shock when they have seen the outcomes.

After the theory side of things, the participants take part in exercises such as team sports and circuit training. We have been recording times and scores to enable us to work on improvements each week. Participants have also been weighed twice so far with Andrew Seymour seeing the biggest drop in weight. Every participant lost weight in the 1st month; the highest being 2.3kg and the lowest being 1.2kg, so it is a great effort from everyone!

Andrew Seymour, participant said “I am really enjoying the sessions, I enjoy the circuit training and all of the different exercises that we do.”

Sean Graves, Disability Coordinator said “I am really pleased with the effort everyone is putting in, not only the exercise but the theory side as well because when they leave the sessions they are using the knowledge and exercises they have gained to their daily routine back home.”
