The participants attended the match between Rotherham United and Shrewsbury, where they experienced the VIP treatment sponsored by Morrison.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust has been working alongside Voluntary Action Rotherham and the NHS to offer preventative care to people with long term medical conditions. People are referred onto the Social Prescription group by their Doctors and the Social Prescription Team at Voluntary Action Rotherham, where they are offered the choice of a stadium day or a home visit.

Stadium days are split into a morning and afternoon group. Each month, the stadium group have the choice to go on a day trip with the Trust. Trips since the end of May have included a boat trip, a zoo outing, a day in Clifton Park and a VIP experience at the Rotherham United v Shrewsbury match.

At the Rotherham United v Shrewsbury match, the group had their very own VIP table which was funded by Morrison and the participants were treated to a three course meal before watching the 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury.

One of the participants said, “It was a wonderful day. I have never been to a football match before and never really understood why people got so involved in their team, but I really enjoyed it and found myself cheering along and shouting at the referee by the end.”
