Rotherham midfielder extends stay at New York...

Rotherham United midfielder Robert Milsom has extended his stay at the club after penning an 18 month contract extension.

Milsom, who joined the Millers as a free agent in the summer, watched from the sidelines in the opening weeks, but since being handed his first start at Villa Park has not looked back, cementing his position in the heart of Steve Evans’ midfield.

“He’s a top player and a terrific lad,” Evans told Millers Player. “He’s kept himself injury free and been absolutely outstanding. There’s been once or twice when he’s dipped but we have as a team. However, the games against Peterborough, Tranmere and the second half on Saturday at Orient when he got on the ball and influenced things he’s as good as anyone in the divison.

“We’ve got to be a bit careful with him because he’s not had a lot of football due to injury, and at the start of the season he was on the bench. He grabbed his opportunity against Aston Villa and looked like a Premier League player.”

Milsom, 26, will be looking for his 11th start of the season at the weekend as the Millers look to steady the promotion ship when they host Colchester United, and Evans believes that the former Fulham and Aberdeen man is more than capable of making the step up.

“He’s a Championship player every day of the week,” Evans continued.

“He could easily play in the Championship, and as long as he keeps himself in incredible shape he’ll be fine. It’s been tough for him in the past with injuries, but with a helping hand from Denis Circuit we’re looking after him to ensure he’s fresh on matchdays because he’s so important to us.”

There will be a full interview with Steve Evans on Rob Milsom, plus all his pre-match team news on Millers Player.
