Youngster getting up to speed...
Academy manager Garreth Barker has praised midfielder Michael Williamson for his recent performances, after the midfielder hit three goals in as many games and earned himself a place in the LFE Goal of the Month competition for September.
Williamson, a central midfielder struggled at the start of the season with injuries but has been in fine form of late, and the team’s new training regime has proved a significant factory.
“Mike is just starting to come into things now,” Barker told www.themillers.co.uk. We knew he was a good player from pre-season, but now he’s getting a run of games and building his fitness as well, it allows him to make the good decisions, showcase his ability and do it on a continual basis.
“He’s had a couple of injuries but we’ve given him a daily prehab routine now which means before training they do their own training programmes to prevent injuries before they occur. Michael is buying into that and doing well working alongside Olly (Freeman), and next week we have a strength and conditioning coach starting with us who will be working with the boys on their speed, strength and posture.
