Young stopper stays with Evo-Stik side...

Rotherham United have allowed goalkeeper Tony Thompson to extend his loan deal at Evo-Stik outfit Curzon Ashton.

Thompson originally joined the club for a month, and after making his debut in a 1-0 victory away at Cammell Laird, has played every game as the have remained unbeaten in seven, conceding just six goals.

Thompson, who was an unused substitute on numerous occasions last season, will now stay with the Lancashire side until January, a move that goalkeeping coach Andy Dibble believes can only benefit him.

“Tony’s playing in men’s football now and it will be a good learning curve for him,” Andy exclusively told www.themillers.co.uk. “The physical aspect will be a great test for him, but he’s a great trainer with good character and a really nice kid to have around. Hopefully he’ll benefit from the loan and it will be a good test for him.”
