Thornhill Vs Maltby LillyhallFinal score 0-2
Half time at the Rotherham Vs Swindon game saw the 4th match of the G4S Trophy take place between Thornhill Primary School and Maltby Lillyhall, two teams who understand the tournament well after playing a number of the previous years. Thornhill got off to the worst possible start when one of their team members failed to show up and from the kick off Lillyhall looked to make the extra man count,Thornhill however were resilient and even managed to create the first opening of the game, when they had a shot saved well by the goal keeper. This proved to be a key moment as almost immediately Lillyhall went to the other end of the pitch and a low strike from midfield beat the Thornhill goal keeper down to his right. Thornhill refused to give in and again mounted a number of attacks, they were kept at bay by some great Lillyhall defending, with around 4 minutes of the match still to play Lillyhall struck the final blow when a shot from right on the sidelines caught the goal keeper by surprise and curled into the far corner, this meant Thornhill had a mountain to climb and despite a fighting performance they bowed out of the competition.
We would like to say well done to both teams for the way they conducted themselves at the match and whilst on the pitch playing, especially Thornhill who played the game in the right spirit despite having a player less.
