Youth team go down to local rivals...

After a busy week of Youth cup and Reserve team action, Academy Manager Garreth Barker rested some weary legs for the game against Chesterfield.

Barker named a number of youngsters, including trailists, as the Millers recovered from three games in a week.

“The game at the weekend was about resting players because the lads have played a lot of football over recent weeks,” said Barker.

“Part of our job is to identify the next crop of players so we included three 15-year-old trialists in our side. The best way to find out if they are good enough is by giving them competitive youth team action.

“Overall the result was a little disappointing but you have to take the positives from the game, and they were that we got some lads some very valuable pitch time which will help their development.”

The Millers consolation goal came from Mason Warren’s cross which was flicked into the net off a Chesterfield head.
