Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has revealed he is closing in on his second signing of the summer.
Evans confirmed that a defender is currently undergoing a medical at New York Stadium, and is set to complete formalities on a deal before close of play today.
The Millers boss also confirmed he fended off interest from a Championship club for the player, who will become signing number two after Joe Skarz completed a full transfer to the Millers following promotion to League One.
“The player is undergoing a medical as we speak so we are very close,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk
“There was serious interest in him from a Championship club but he has agreed terms with us and we are very excited at having him on board for next season.
“I won’t be saying anything else for the time being, we will complete the medical and the formal registration first, but needless to say we are very pleased with the deal."
