Rotherham United Community Sports Trust’s Great Millers Youth Forum successfully organised this year’s Rotherham North Sports Festival held at Ferham Park on the 12th of May.Despite the poor weather conditions, over 350 people attended the event with attractions including a 5 aside junior football tournament, climbing wall, inflatable football pitch, bouncy castles a live DJ, graffiti workshops and balloon modelling.
This year the event was organised by young people from the Great Millers Youth Forum as part of their Youth in Action project funded by the British Council.
Mused Salem Chair of the Forum commented “The event has been a real success given the poor weather, credit must go to the young people and families that took part in the activities.
“I would personally like to thank all of the agencies that have supported us this year including Rotherham North Area Assembly, the Youth Service, Ferham Community Group and the 3 local councilors who were all present on the day joining in the fun.”
The day was capped with a fantastic football tournament with ten teams taking part; the eventual winners after a tense penalty shootout were Thornhill Primary.
The win was greatly received by the school after a painful defeat on penalties at this year’s Broadsword Trophy held on the pitch at New York Stadium.
