Young Millers beaten at Meadow...

Rotherham United slipped to a 3-0 defeat against a strong Shrewsbury Town side at Greenhous Meadow with three second-half goals being the difference.

Paul Raynor’s men included Craig Morgan who played his first 90 minutes since breaking a bone before Christmas, whilst Dale Tonge and Mitchell Rose were the only other two professionals in the squad. Dan Rowe operated in midfield with 16 year-old Connor Bell playing in an advanced role just beyond Nicky Walker.

The home side however called upon Jermaine Grandison, Luke Summerfield and Luke Rodgers with the latter getting on the end of a Ryan Woods cross to score past Millers keeper Tony Thompson at the second attempt. That was the second goal of the game after Yado Mambo has broken the deadlock just after half-time. His long range shot finding its way beyond the Millers stopper.

The third came not long after and when Tom Bradshow latched onto Ryan Doble’s pass to fire under the ‘keeper and give the home side the win.

Millers: Thompson, Tonge, Morgan, McKay, Lucas (Hart 86), Rose, Cadman, Rowe, Walker, Bell (Woods 80), Travis (Williamson 63).
