HRH Duke of Kent visits New York Stadium...

Rotherham United were honoured this morning with a visit by HRH The Duke of Kent KG, who officially opened New York Stadium.

The Duke received a tour of New York Stadium and finalised proceedings by unveiling a commemorative plaque beside the playing surface specially made for the Millers state-of-the-art communityy stadium.

The tour included a look around the Millers corporate hospitality lounges, dressing room areas, which was conducted by Honorary Ambassador Howard Webb, and was finalised with the unveiling of the plaque alongside Millers Chairman Tony Stewart.

A number of dignitaries were invited for what was a proud day for the club, with Mr. Stewart delighted on what was an historic day for town.

“Rotherham United football club were visited by the Duke of Kent who looked and listened whilst being shown around the stadium by a host of people connected with the events here. He showed a great interest as he was told about the activities that take place here in the heart of Rotherham, and over the time he was here, he got the message that this is more than a football stadium. This is a venue to benefit all the areas of Rotherham, young and old, this is a stadium for the people.”

The Duke concluded his visit by leaving his mark in the signing-in book at reception.
