Young Millers beaten in the North...
A young Rotherham United team were well beaten by a far more experienced Hartlepool reserve side at the home of Billingham Town for the second time in under two months.
Academy Manager Steve Moss took over the reins from Paul Raynor for the game but he could do nothing as the visitors lost 4-0. The Millers fielded a youth team for the fixture due to first-team commitments this Friday, and after seeing a strong side overcome Morecambe on Monday afternoon, there was little they could do today.
Moss' side had an uphill battle against their more experienced counterparts and couldn't compete with Pools' movement, resulting in a comprehensive victory.
Luke James, The Football League’s Apprentice of the Year scored a hat-trick in the Central League East fixture with Greg Rutherford getting the other.
Moss reserved special praise for Luke Beedham who played up front on his own, citing his non-stop effort and workrate as being especially pleasing. There will be a full interview with the Millers' Academy Manager to follow.
