Millers boss pleased with victory...

Steve Evans was understandably delighted with three points today as Rotherham United won a hard-fought encounter against AFC Wimbledon. The game was evenly poised when Alex Revell popped up at the far post midway through the second-half to ensure all three points stayed in Rotherham on Good Friday.

“I thought we were excellent today from start to finish,” Evans told Millers Player. “I thought we played ever so well but we didn’t get a break in front of goal. We said at half-time that we had to be patient, we had to be mentally strong and if we did that and we kept a clean sheet and could be disciplined then a goal would come. We could have won more, but it’s all about winning.”

Revell collected the sponsors’ Man of the Match award after the game following an excellent performance which he saw capped with his fifth goal of the season. Afterwards, Evans stated that this kind of performance was nothing out of the ordinary from a player who continues to impress week after week.

“I think he’s been like that all season, but people notice him more because he’s got a goal and he’s chased some lost causes, but when you work as hard for the team as he does then you’ll always be a big opposition threat. You can see the reaction from the playing staff and the supporters that they love him because he wears that red Millers shirt with real pride.”
