Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

‘An outstanding draw’ was manager Steve Evans’ response after the Millers were drawn at home to Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The draw, which was announced at 9.30am this morning, will see the Owls make their first ever visit to New York Stadium, whilst it also marks the first ever competitive South Yorkshire derby at the Millers new home.

“It would be fair to say that it is nothing short of an outstanding draw for the club,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“This is one match that everyone in football will want to be at.”

Evans also emphasised the chances of a live game on TV, with the Millers hoping to attract a worldwide audience for the visit of their Championship neighbours.

“I would expect that not only will it be a full house, but I would further expect that the live television cameras will be making their way to the New York Stadium for what will be a fantastic occasion,” he added.

The ties will be played the week commencing 5th August.
