Millers boss comments on training...
Rotherham United manager Steve Evans was back on the training ground with his players today prior to the final game of the Millers’ pre-season tour north of the border against Ayr United tomorrow.
The Millers travel to Somerset Park to compete four days before the first game of pre-season at New York Stadium on Tuesday when Bolton Wanderers come to town, and the Millers boss says they’re in a good position ahead of tomorrow’s encounter.
“It was good today,” said Evans. “The lads had a bit of a down day yesterday, they trained in the morning and then a few of them went out on the golf course in the afternoon and a couple went for a walk on the beach just to bring their bodies down to normal levels. Today has been bright, they looked sharp, and now they can rest this afternoon before a small training session in the morning and then off to Ayr.”
The Millers opponents tomorrow are no strangers to Evans, who had a spell as a youngster there during his playing career, and with good numbers likely to make the journey north, he told Millers Player exactly what can be expected.
“It’s a good club, with good people, and a bit like the Millers if you support Ayr United you live and breathe it. It’s the first time I’ve been back with a team so it will be nice, and I’m looking forward to it. The net will be a bit less worn than when I was there, but the pitch will be magnificent and with a good travelling support from Rotherham it will be a party.”
