The Rotherham A and B teams grabbed wins against Doncaster Rovers A and Huddersfield Town C

Rotherham United ‘A’ 4-0 Doncaster Rovers ‘A’

The game started with the possession battle taking place, with both teams trying to dominate in the midfield.

Rotherham took the lead, however, half way through the first half, with a great first time strike from Brad Blamires, with help from a fine pass from Joe Briggs.

This settled Rotherham who started to pick Doncaster apart, and it wasn’t long before Rotherham doubled their lead. Briggs played a square ball into Bramires who smashed home from close range, and the Millers took a comfortable 2-0 into the break.

Doncaster started the second half brightly, putting pressure on the Millers goal. However, goalkeeper Jay Ford made save after save to deny Rovers a fightback charge.

This motivated Rotherham to push for a third and round the game off, which happened after some sublime work by Briggs that gave Hussein Salem an easy finish to put clear daylight between the Millers and Rovers.

The game was then finished off when Blamires volleyed home his hattrick after another assist by the expert Briggs.

Rotherham United ‘B’ 4-3 Huddersfield Town ‘C’

The game started quick and fast with both teams looking to gain an early advantage in possession and chances.

Huddersfield was the team to get the scoring underway with a good dribble from the Town player who smashed the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Rotherham continued to fly forward in search of an equaliser, but it was Huddersfield that found the net again when a long pass was beautifully brought down and volleyed home for a 2-0 lead.

But the Millers never let their heads drop and were soon back in the game with a crafty lofted shot from Dom Walker, who saw the Huddersfield Town keeper off his line and the goal at his mercy.

The wind was now behind the Millers and they continued to press for the equaliser, and it soon arrived from a thunderous low drive from Nicky Markham that left the goalkeeper static.

Luke Easton then completed Rotherham’s comeback after a Huddersfield defender slipped which created the time and space for Easton to slot home.
