Young Millers beaten at Prenton Park...

A young Rotherham United were beaten 4-1 at Tranmere Rovers this afternoon in the Central League cup.

There was a lack of first-team experience in the side, although Craig Morgan started the game, continuing his comeback from injury, whilst Dale Tonge and Mitchell Rose were also in the first 11.

The Millers went behind on 17 minutes when James Joyce got on the end of a cross before Luke Beedham equalised just before the half-hour mark.

However, the young Millers’ resistance was soon overcome and two goals from former Liverpool youth team player David Amoo put the home side 3-1 ahead before half-time, and the scoring was rounded off with Joe Conchie heading home midway through the second-half.

Tranmere: Mooney, Danny Holmes, Lynskey, Phillips, Black, Thompson, Dunne, Kirby, Joyce, Conchie (Durnin 63), Amoo.
Unused substitutes: Jones, Beech, Jordan Holmes, John Holmes.

Millers: Thompson, Tonge, Morgan, Rowe, McKay, Williamson, Cadman, Walker, Rose, Bell, Beedham.
Subs: Woods, Lucas, Travis
