Millers home recognised worldwide...

New York Stadium nominated to ‘Stadium of the Year’ award

From Brazil to Indonesia, new stadiums are opening around the world, and the Millers’ new home has been shortlisted as one of the best. StadiumDB.com has shortlisted New York Stadium along with jut 15 other newly-built venues to win Stadium of the Year.

The closest to home is the iconic Olympic Stadium in London, whilst the shapes, sizes and uses vary across the globe. However, awards organizer Gregorz Kaliciak has singled out what makes New York special.

“It’s smaller than some other nominees, it’s cheaper, but it’s still very elegant and seems to have really good value for money. And it’s a lot more of a proper football stadium than some others as well. That’s why we decided to list it”, says Kaliciak. “What I personally find very distinctive is the roof design, making it stand out among other new venues of this size.”

Over 5,000 people had registered their vote within the first week to determine which venue would come out on top, and you can too at www.stadiumdb.com/competitions

Previous winners were the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and PGE Arena in Gdansk. Here we see the New York Stadium alongside some of the other nominees including Estadio Raimundo Sampaio (Brazil), Grand Stade Lille-Metropole (France), Friends Arena (Sweden) and Stadion Narodowy w Warszawie (Poland).
