Kearns double helps towards Millers win...

Rotherham United managed a convincing 4-0 victory over Bradford City in the Central League this afternoon thanks to goals from Kieran Agard, Daniel Kearns (2) and Dan Rowe.

Dale Tonge captained the side which featured Alex Revell and Courtney Cameron also.

Agard was the first to set his sights on goal at a wintry John Charles Sports Centre, but his effort from 20 yards flashed past the post seven minutes into the game.

The hosts almost capitalised on a slip in the defence by James Cadman which allowed Louie Swaine a run at goal, but the presence of Tony Thompson was enough to see the Bradford forward skew his effort wide of the post.

Despite the difficult conditions, the Millers adopted an attractive passing philosophy and almost reaped the rewards when a neat interchange between Nicky Walker and Daniel Kearns saw the latter denied a good chance in the area.

However, the Millers patient approach finally paid dividends when Alex Revell's pinpoint pass allowed Agard time in the area to curl an effort into the goal and put the visitors ahead.

Seconds later Kearns doubled their advantage after latching onto a through ball before calmly dispatching his effort into Chris Senior's goal.

HT: Bradford City 0 - 2 Millers

The hosts would've halved the deficit had Scott Brown's precise effort been an inch lower as it struck the crossbar.

However, despite Bradford's bright start to the second period the visitors extended their lead ten minutes after the restart.

A strong challenge from Reece Lucas recovered possession for the Millers, before Revell streamed forward and unleashed Kearns who gratefully tucked home an effort at the second time of asking after a splendid save from Senior denied him initially..

Swaine continued to threaten for the visitors and almost found himself on the scoresheet when he danced through the Millers defence, before unleashing a powerful effort which Thompson turned behind.

Rowe was included on the bench in Saturday's first-team clash with Northampton Town and staked a claim to retain that spot when he converted a back post header from a Kearns cross to cap a solid defensive display.

An astute save from goalkeeper Thompson denied substitute Oliver McBurnie a consolation for the Bantams when he manoeuvred some space inside the area late on.

The young Bradford side didn't cease their siege on the Millers goal despite the scoreline and came close again when McBurnie's speculative overhead went just over minutes from the end.

FT: Bradford City 0 - 4 Millers

Millers: Thompson, Tonge, Cameron, Lucas, Rowe, Watson, Walker (McKay 53), Cadman, Revell, Agard, Kearns (Bell 78).
