Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Boss Steve Evans is fully focused on getting back to winning ways ahead of the trip to Bristol City at the weekend.

Evans watched his side exit both the FA Cup and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy over the past seven days, but whilst he admits the defeats ‘hurt’ the sole focus will now switch to the bread and butter of the league, starting with a tough trip to Ashton Gate.

“We lost on Tuesday night, we take it on the chin and we now move on and focus on what was always the number one objective which is League One,” Evans told Millers Player this morning. “That doesn’t take away the hurt from the defeat but we know that our priority is to be as near as we can be to the top of League One.”

Evans is now looking forward as the Millers embark and what on paper appears to be a very tough run of fixtures through Christmas and the New Year. Starting with the game against the Robins on Saturday, the Millers boss is looking for his troops to be focused on maintaining their top six slot.

“Considering that today we sit in sixth position before we visit Bristol City, almost a year ago we were outside the play-offs in League Two. We are sixth but we are still frustrated with the season so far,” he admitted.

“It is now about focus, paying attention to detail and getting through what is a really tough month. The games coming up are huge. Bristol City on Saturday, there will be 15,000 there to watch Steve Cotterill’s first game, he is a man I know, respect and like immensely and it will be good to catch up, but we are there to get some points.

“Of course we then have Wolves, who in my opinion will be the Champions at the end of the season, and then we have Bradford, Port Vale and a home game with Coventry, tough games but this is why we are in League One.”

There is a full interview with Steve Evans on Millers Player now.
