Academy Manager ready for Foxes test...

Academy Manager Garreth Barker has his team ready for Rotherham United’s FA Youth Cup third round tie at Leicester City this evening.

The Millers travel to the King Power Stadium knowing that a fourth round tie against Manchester United is the reward for a victory and Barker said that whilst he has his team ready, the players themselves won’t find out until this evening.

“We know what we’re going to be doing,” Barker exclusively told www.themillers.co.uk. “I decided it at about 1.30am this morning on the sixth piece of paper but we’ll tell the boys at an appropriate time which will be at around 5.30pm this evening. There will be some disappointment involved because someone has to miss out, but also it will help us manage the nerves of the other boys because they don’t have too much time to think about it.”

Preparations are well underway for the clash in the midlands with Barker’s men having trained hard for the game.

“We had a training game against peripheral members of the first-team yesterday which was good for the boys. It allowed us to look at a few things for tonight and assess the fitness of several players as well which was good. They came through that unscathed and feeling happy; the medical team were also happy which was good.

“The clubs have been magnificent in what they have done for the boys in their preparations for this game. They are travelling on one of the first team’s coaches which comes at great expense so we’re grateful for that, and everything has been dealt with very similar to a first team game. It’s a great experience for the boys and they’re also very thankful for it all.”

The game will kick off at 7pm and entry is £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
