Millers 'keeper just wants three points...
When Rotherham United arrive at the Broadfield Stadium tomorrow, there will be more than one familiar face returning to the club they won promotion. Scott Shearer was the only person involved in the Red Devils’ squad when the two sides last met, but Matt Tubbs and Claude Davis, as well as the managerial duo of Steve Evans and Paul Raynor will both have to remember to make camp in the visitors dressing room this time around.
“I’ve got a lot of happy memories but that’s all in the past and I’ve got to concentrate on the task in hand, which means going in and looking to get three points,” the current Millers number one told www.themillers.co.uk
“What the Gaffer did at the club (Crawley) was massive and he’s started to do the same here as well now, but we’ve got to focus on the present rather than looking back, and what’s important is three points.”
Looking at his current club, Shearer is content with the start to the season, and a sheet against Preston North End has gone a long way to making up for the shaky start at Crewe, and he was full of praise for the players in front of him.
“It’s gone reasonably well,” Scott added. “We would have liked to have had more points on the board, but the cup game was massive for the fans. However, that’s not our bread and butter, and we’ve got to look now to get some points on the board.
“It’s only early days but you don’t want the other teams to get too far ahead of you so it’s important that we go to Crawley and get three points. On a personal level I feel as though it’s going well and the defence in front of me is looking solid. The team is working extremely hard and that leads to not a lot of chances coming my way. It’s testament to the hard work ethic we have at the club. “
