Winger joins Motherwell until January...

Rotherham United have allowed winger Lionel Ainsworth to join Scottish Premiership side Motherwell on loan until January, after clearance was received this morning.

Ainsworth, who hasn’t featured in Steve Evans’ plans this season, yesterday travelled north of the border to complete the move to Stuart McCall’s side.

Manager Steve Evans exclusively told www.themillers.co.uk : “In the last week we’ve had a number of enquiries about Lionel but the offer from Motherwell seemed to be a good one, and one that I felt would really benefit the player. Stuart McCall has been first class in the way the deal has been conducted and I wish Lionel all the best during his time in Scotland.”

The 25 year-old failed to establish himself in the first-team at New York Stadium, and last season had a temporary spell with Aldershot Town.
