The April Master Classes rounded off with a visit from the Millers' own Alex RevellDuring the Easter holidays, the RUCST coaches took over Wickersley Comprehensive School in order to put on a footballing master class for the Millers stars of the future.
The class ran on weekdays, from Tuesday 2nd to Friday 12th April, with each youngster showing off their skills in front of the watchful eyes of some of the Millers’ own first team.
Coaching was made available to youngsters between the ages of 5 and 15, giving them the chance to improve on their skills, get active and have fun whilst doing so.
There were FA Qualified Coaches on hand at all times and talented players were recommended to the RUFC Centre of Excellence. All the players who attended were rewarded with gifts and there were many opportunities for the children to win exciting prizes.
During the Master Class, some of the young people got chance to meet one of Rotherham United's star players, Alex Revell, who took part in a Q & A session. The day was enjoyed by one and all and the youngsters were delighted to meet one of their footballing idols.
Coach Adam Taylor commented: “The Master Classes give the young people of Rotherham the opportunity to come and work with some of the coaches, develop their skills and hopefully see football in a better light.
“Personally, my favourite part is seeing the young children with a smile on their faces. I think it’s important that they can experience a different learning environment and still enjoy themselves.
“The classes have been running for over 20 years now and their popularity seems to be increasing with every school holiday.
“We’ll be running more Master Classes throughout the summer and my advice to anybody who’s interested in coming down would be to watch this space!”
