As you may have already heard, The Football League has introduced a bespoke online community of fans called The Changing Room.  It is formed of passionate fans of Football League clubs, giving them the opportunity to have their say on a range of footballing issues by taking part in various discussions and surveys.  Existing members were asked about their thoughts on the eventual league champions, as well as of the season so far.  Read on to find out what they thought.

To give the results some context, 98% of The Changing Room’s members stated that they are football fans in general, outside of the club they support. More than half are season ticket holders at their club and a further 37% regularly attend home games.

Members have overwhelmingly predicted Cardiff City to top the npower Championship, with 77% of the vote going to the current league leaders

In npower League1, Doncaster Rovers are favourites to win the title race with 34% of the vote.  Tranmere Rovers came a close second as 23% of fans thought they’d be top of the pile come May, and a further 16% voted Sheffield United.  The race for the title and promotion in League being so tight it’s still probably too early to call!

In keeping with current standings Gillingham (48%) and Port Vale (32%) are favourites for league glory, but Port Vale will have to turn some poor recent form to live up to expectations.  It could be any team from 5 who may take that final automatic spot.

Tom Ince and Wilfried Zaha (both 29%) were joint favourites to be npower Championship player of the year, even though the award for 2012 went to on-loan Watford striker Matej Vydra at last weekend’s FL Awards.  David McGoldrick (21%) narrowly beat out Brentford’s Clayton Donaldson (20%) as the fan’s nominee for npower League 2 player of the year.  Members of The Changing Room finally got it right in League 2 as they correctly nominated Tom Pope (47%) as player of the year.

The Changing Room is the ideal opportunity for passionate Millers fans to become our representatives and your chance to have your say on all things Football League related.  What’s more, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts by being entered into exclusive prize draws when taking part in activities.  Last month, 20 lucky members were given a pair of tickets to The Capital One Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in return for giving their feedback on the day’s events.
