Millers slip to defeat...

Rotherham United’s reserves suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 1-0 to a first-half strike at Gateshead last night.

Nicky Hunt and Dale Tonge both played 65 minutes on their return from injury, whilst new signing Craig Morgan played 45 minutes in his first appearance for the club.

The Millers, who beat Bury 7-0 in their opening game took a young team to the north east, with Mitchell Rose and Alec Denton the other professionals involved.

Building from the back, the Millers gave away possession deep in their own half allowing Luke Carr to capitalise and put the home side in front 20 minutes into the game.

However, a change of style at half-time and personnel resulted in a much better second half with the young Rotherham United side on top for the majority, but unable to make the breakthrough.

Millers: Thompson, Hunt (Hart 65), Lucas, Morgan (Woods HT), Tonge (Williamson 65), Rose, Rowe, Walker, Travis, Beedham, Denton
